Judge's Critique

Judge, Chris Crane with two Irish Wolfhounds

My thanks to all those who managed to get to the Show as the weather conditions were appalling.

I was pleased with the overall quality of the hounds. With one or two exceptions, bites were good, but one problem I found in some of the hounds was flat splayed feet, which was rather distracting, and I don’t think the floor of the venue can necessarily be blamed for all of them. Feet should be strong and tight, something I think which needs to be addressed.

MINOR PUPPY DOG (2)

1.    Goodall & Howe's Gartlove Galenhunter. 8 month old. Nice head and expression, strong bone, good front assembly and forechest. Good topline, nice depth and spring of rib. Well angulated with good bend of stifle, well muscled hind quarters for a youngster, moved well. Promising puppy. Best puppy dog.

2.    Fox’s Newdigate Marlon Brando.6-month wheaten, good head and expression, good length of neck on well laid shoulders. Would prefer more length of forearm and a better topline, but good hindquarters despite a little steep in croup.

PUPPY DOG (2)

1.    Poole’s Conmeryl Quarryman. Good head and expression, good shoulder placement and front assembly, well ribbed back. Good topline and hindquarters, nice low hocks. Moved happily and with purpose.
